It works by forcing the contaminated fluid through a multi-layered matrix of microfibers, where small droplets collide, merge (coalesce), and grow into larger droplets. These larger droplets then shed from the fiber surface due to gravity or fluid flow and are collected in a sump or drained away. Common applications include compressed air systems, fuel polishing, natural gas processing, and hydraulic oil purification.
