Constructed with specially surface-treated glass fiber or polyester fiber as the coalescing medium, the filter element features a high-density gradient or a multi-layer composite structure . As the fluid flows from the inside to the outside through the cartridge, sub-micron droplets are captured by the ultra-fine fibers through the combined mechanisms of inertial impaction, diffusion interception, and direct interception . These captured small droplets migrate along the fibers and coalesce with others at fiber intersections, gradually forming larger droplets . Once coalesced, these enlarged droplets are easily separated from the main fluid stream by gravity, settling to the bottom of the housing

FAQ
Q1: How can I tell when the cartridge needs replacement?
Replacement is primarily determined by the operating differential pressure, rather than by time alone. When the pressure drop rises to 0.15 MPa (approx. 15 psi), the cartridge is severely clogged and must be replaced. Additionally, if the effluent free water content consistently exceeds the process limit, replacement is advised even if the pressure drop is still below the threshold. We recommend keeping regular records of initial and operating pressure drops for optimal maintenance scheduling.
Q2: Is the cartridge suitable for media containing surfactants?
Special attention is required: the coalescing performance is significantly inhibited in media with high surfactant content (e.g., emulsifiers or additives). Surfactants reduce the oil-water interfacial tension, preventing small droplets from coalescing into larger ones. If your media contains such components, we recommend upstream pretreatment (e.g., demulsifier injection or heating/settling) or selecting our specially designed anti-emulsification enhanced cartridge.
Q3: Can the cartridge be cleaned and reused?
No, the coalescing cartridge is a single-use consumable and is not recommended for cleaning and reuse. Washing or chemical backwashing will damage the microscopic fiber structure and surface treatment of the glass or polyester media, causing irreversible loss of coalescing efficiency and potential fiber shedding, which may contaminate downstream systems. To reduce operating costs, we suggest installing a pre-filter upstream to protect and extend the service life of the main coalescing cartridge.
