Relationship Between Dirt-Holding Capacity and Filter Element Service Life

Dirt-holding capacity refers to the total mass of contaminants that a filter element can capture before reaching the rated pressure drop (typically 2.1 bar or 3.5 bar), expressed in grams. It is not directly proportional to filtration accuracy. At the same accuracy, a larger effective filter media area and more pleats result in higher dirt-holding capacity and longer service life. When selecting a filter element, both β ratio and dirt-holding capacity should be considered to avoid premature clogging caused by pursuing only high precision.
